Training

Organised Immigration Crime is evolving rapidly, with criminal networks adapting their tactics to exploit vulnerable people and challenge UK borders. Our national training programme equips police officers and staff with the operational awareness, investigative capability and multi-agency confidence needed to respond effectively.

A one-day OIC course provides scenario exercises — designed around both clandestine inland encounters and community based migrant encounters — where officers will learn how to assess risk, safeguard individuals, coordinate partner agencies and make confident decisions during fast moving incidents. These immersive scenarios reflect the realities officers face on the ground and strengthen their ability to disrupt organised crime groups involved in illegal migration.

We offer a range of additional learning opportunities:

  • Three-day PIP2 OIC Investigators Course for those leading complex investigations.
  • Financial Investigators Course aimed at understanding the financial structures and money flows that support OIC gangs.
  • Regular online webinars/awareness sessions to inform officers on new legislation, key case law, and emerging criminal methodologies.

Whether responding at the roadside, managing a community-based encounter, or progressing a full OIC investigation, officers benefit from improved confidence, clearer decision making, and a stronger understanding of the tools, partners and intelligence sources available to them. Our aim is simple: to ensure every officer feels prepared, informed and supported when tackling organised immigration crime. For more information or any questions please contact the OICDT.
